In keeping with its commitment to community involvement, Kaufman Law team members spent a Saturday in September participating in the Teal Trot—a 5K walk/run to promote ovarian cancer awareness hosted by the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
Sherene Harati, a paralegal at Kaufman Law, felt especially compelled to take part in the race because she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer just a year ago. “I was lucky,” Sherene says. “My cancer was caught early, and my prognosis is good. So, I felt it was important to do something to give back, and I knew about the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance.” Sherene goes on to say, “Some of the proceeds from the race are used to send survival packages to women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. And I received one of those packages. It was really nice.”
Sherene points out that Kaufman Law was extremely generous and encouraging after her diagnosis. “The firm set up a GoFundMe page, ensured me that I had a job to return to after my treatments, and gave me a lot of emotional support. Ultimately, we got involved in the Teal Trot race to support ovarian cancer awareness.”
Sherene summarizes the firm’s involvement by saying, “I received a lot of help and kindness from the people I work with at Kaufman Law, and we participated in the race as a team wearing our teal colored t-shirts. My main goal is to raise awareness for ovarian cancer, and Kaufman Law has provided enormous support in that.”
Kaufman Law staff were honored to participate in the event and look forward to making further contributions to the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance Foundation for cancer research and prevention.
